Second Impressions - Jonghun and Nichkhun.

Chapter 1

It was my first day at the restaurant, I was so nervous. I just knew I was going to drop something or embarrass myself in some way. I rushed around my apartment trying to get ready, I had already woken up late. “Great start Amber” I said to myself. Thankfully the restaurant was only across the road from my apartment.
I walked in the door and was greeted by Manager Hwang, “annyeong Amber, I hope you have a good time working here. He said, welcomingly.

“Kamsamnida Manager Hwang, I will work hard, please look after me.” I replied. Manager Hwang turned around and called over a girl who was clearing a table.

“This is Yasmin, she will look after you and show you the ropes.” He said giving Yasmin a pat on the back. “I’ll leave you two to your work” he said walking away.

“Annyeong” Yasmin said, “I’m Yasmin, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask” she said smiling.

“Annyeong I’m Amber, please look after me.” I replied.

“Follow me” Yasmin said, walking into the kitchen. I followed her into the kitchen and she put the glasses she was carrying down in a sink. She handed me an apron and a ‘trainee’ name tag.

“Right” she said, “let’s start with taking some orders shall we?”

“Sure” I replied. We walked out of the kitchen and onto the patio where some customers were sitting.

“How about that guy sitting on his own over there? He‘s cute” She said smiling. I looked around at him and immediately spun around back to Yasmin.

“Oh my god! No unnie please anyone but him!” I said pleading.

“Why? Do you know him?? Go and say hello!” She said teasing me.

“No way! He’s a total jerk! We met a few weeks back, my friend Jessica invited me to a party of her boyfriend’s. I went thinking it was going to be a laugh and have a good time, but he made it totally miserable, he seemed to comment every little thing I did and put me down. He even laughed at the fact I had a boyfriend. He was such a bastard.” I said.

“Ooo he doesn’t sound very nice at all! He might have changed you never know!” she said nudging me.

“I doubt it! I really don’t wanna talk to him, please unnie!” I said.

“Okay” she said with a sigh, “I’ll go take his order, you go and clear some tables inside.”

“Okay, thanks unnie I owe you one!” I said.

“Yeah yeah whatever” she said smiling. She walked towards him as I walked off towards the door.

“Annyeong I’m Yasmin, what can I get you? She said, getting out a notepad and pen from the pocket of her apron. He looked up at her and was about to speak when he looked past her and spotted me walking inside.

“New girl?” he said smiling.

“Yeah, just started today” Yasmin replied.

“She’s cute .. from the back” he laughed.
I was clearing tables away when someone tapped me on the back, “Excuse me..” I turned around to find Jonghun standing behind me.

“YOU?!” we said together. “What are you doing here?!” He said

“I happen to work here, what about you?!” I said, literally shouting back at him. He didn’t reply, he walked off and left me standing there bewildered.

‘tsk he hasn’t changed at all, he’s still a complete jerk’ I thought to myself as I went back to my work.

A few days later he came in again, Yasmin nudged me. “He’s back” she said winking at me. “Urh why is he here again, does he want to die? I don’t wanna speak to him.” I said as I walked away. I went upstairs to the balcony to clear away some glasses that had been left there. As I turned around he was there, I was so shocked I dropped the glasses. “Now look what you made me do pabo!” I said bending down to pick up the broken glass. “Leave it” he said as he grabbed my arm and pushed me against the wall. I tried to struggle free but he was too strong. “Let me go!” I said.

“You still with that ‘boyfriend’ of yours?” he said smirking.

“That’s none of your business! Now let me go!” I said trying to get free. He just pushed me harder against the wall. “Answer me” he said.

“No, I’m not with him anymore, are you happy now?”

“Heh figures.” He said smirking again.

“Why you so interested anyway?” I said to him.

“I .. I’m not” he said, looking threatened. We heard footsteps, Jonghun looked towards the stairs, he loosened his grip and I pushed him away from me. Nichkhun appeared in the doorway. “What is this?” He said, looking Jonghun up and down. I ran towards him and he put his arm around me, “nothing” I said, “Jonghun was just leaving.” Jonghun walked towards the stairway and gave me a wink as he walked past, I rolled my eyes.
As soon as he was gone I shook Nichkhun’s arm off my shoulder, “yahh why did you do that?” I asked him.

“Do what?” He said smiling.

“Put your arm around me fool” I said hitting his chest.

“I thought it would confuse him, it worked right?” he said smirking.

“Hah, yeah I guess so.” I smiled, “So what you doing here anyways?”

“I came to see you of course! Haven’t been to see you at your new job yet, how’s it going?” he said.

“It’s going well, I’m really enjoying it, apart from that pabo coming in all the time trying to annoy me.” I said glimpsing back at the stairway which Jonghun had just exited.

He laughed, “perhaps I should come more often and protect you?” he said.

“Haha yeah please! Keep me sane” I laughed. “Jessica comes often too”

“Ahh yeah, Jessica, how is she? Are her Hongki still together?” He said.

“Yeah they are, I’m really happy for them.” I said smiling.

“And what about you? Heard you broke up with Taemin..” He said.

“Yeah, I really did love him, but his schedule was just so busy, so I hardly ever got to see him. I would want to see my boyfriend everyday, but it just wasn’t possible with him. So we decided to end it but we’re still good friends and speak often.” I said.

“Ahh well atleast your still friends, that’s good” He said.

“Yeah” I said smiling, “I’d better get back to work”

“Okay, I’ll catch you later yeah” he said as he ruffled my hair.


Chapter 2


A few days passed, I was at home in my apartment. ‘Look at the state of this place’ I said to myself. I put my iPod into it’s dock and got to work. I was cleaning the windows when I noticed someone down by the pond looking up, it was Jonghun. ‘Oh god, what is he stalking me now?’ I thought. I ducked below the window so that he couldn’t see me. As I crouched there under the window, my phone started going off. I slid across the floor across to the table where my phone was, I looked at the screen, it was an unknown number. ’Should I answer it?’ I said to myself.



“Hello?” I said quietly.

“Hi Amber! How are you?” a familiar voice answered back.

“Yasmin! Hi! I’m fine yeah, just trying to clean my apartment at the moment, it’s going very slowly.” I said laughing.

“Keke, oh I have to tell you something, you know that guy who was in the restaurant the other day, the one you didn’t wanna talk to?” she said.

“Uh yeah .. what about him?” I said.

“I swear he’s been in the restaurant everyday since you started! He’s always here, he must be looking for you” she teased.

“YAH! That’s not true! How could you say something like that?” I said. I could hear Yasmin laughing down the phone. “Uhm Yasmin, you didn’t by any chance tell him where I lived did you?” I asked.

“No, why” she said.

“He’s outside my building right now..” I said, looking down at him.

“Oh my god! No way!” she said shocked.

“Take a look for yourself! Go up to the balcony, you can probably see him from there.” I said, looking over at the restaurant. I could hear Yasmin’s footsteps down the phone as she ran up the stairs. She waved at me from the balcony.

“I can see you!” she said.

“Hey!” I said, waving back at her. “Can you see him?” I asked.

“Oh yeah! Down by the pond right?”

“Yeah, what is he doing here? That’s what I wanna know.”

“Perhaps he wants to see you so bad that he found out where you live!” Yasmin said laughing.

“Why would he do that? He’s such a fool.” Suddenly he looked up again, I turned around and jumped across the room so that he couldn’t see me.

“Listen Amber, I’ve gotta get back to work, give me a ring later and tell me what happens alright?”

“Okay unnie, I’ll talk to you later.” I said. I put my phone back down on the table.



Suddenly my stomach rumbled. “Uh so hungry” I said. I walked in the kitchen and opened the fridge. There was hardly anything in there. “Trip to the store I think.” I got changed and went downstairs, I peeked round the door. I couldn’t see him there, so I walked out and turned to shut the door.



As I turned, he was standing there, right behind me. I tripped backwards in shock, he grabbed me before I hit the ground. I shook him off me. “YAH! Do you have a habit of sneaking up behind me now?” I said. He stood there and laughed. “Move, I’m busy” I said trying to push past him. He grabbed my arm and led me to an alley round the corner. “What are you doing? Get off me!” I yelled at him trying to struggle free.

“Why are you being like this?” He said to me whilst looking at the floor.

“ME?! What the hell are you on about?” I shouted at him. He didn’t say anything else. He looked really sad all of a sudden, I had no idea why.

After a few moments of silence I said softly “Listen, I really need to get going..” I lightly pushed him away, he took a few steps back. As I walked past him he grabbed my hand, swung me round and pulled me towards him so that his head was on my shoulder, my chest was against his, and his arms were around me. ‘Why is he doing this?’ I thought to myself.

He finally let me go, gave me a smirk and walked off, again leaving me bewildered. I had so many thoughts running through my head, it was such a surreal feeling.

[Later that night…]

I had organised a huge party at my place, I had invited literally everyone I knew. The party was in full swing when I heard someone shout my name from across the room over the loud music, “Amber!!” Jessica shouted waving frantically at me. I ran over to her and squeezed her tightly, “Hey you, where’s Hongki?” I asked.

“He’s in the hallway taking his coat off” she said laughing, “you having a good time?”

“I am now!” I said dragging her to the dance floor, “come dance with me, ok?”

“Hell yeah!” she said. I stood there laughing at her, when my favourite song came on.

“OH MY GOD!” Me and Jessica said together, jumping up and down like school children. It was Super Junior’s new song Bonamana, ever since Jessica sent it to me I had been obsessed with it. We ran to the middle of the room and started dancing.

While we were dancing I heard a voice behind me, “you dance good” he said.

I turned round to see Nichkhun standing there with a huge grin on his face. “You came!!” I said throwing my arms around him.

“You think I would miss it?” he said holding me, he tilting his head so that it was touching mine. I opened my eyes to see Hongki waving at me from across the room. I waved back, with one arm still around Nichkhun. Hongki started to walk to Jessica, then I noticed someone walk into the place where he had just been standing, it was Jonghun.



“Oh god what is he doing here?” I said, sliding in front of Nichkhun so that Jonghun didn’t see me. He moved his hands from my waist “who?” he asked, placing them on my arms, “it’s not the guy from the restaurant is it?” he said turning round to look. “Yeah it’s him alright.” I said.

“Shall I ask him to leave?” he said. Suddenly Hongki came bounding up to me with Jessica in his arms. “Hey Amber, I bought a friend I hope that was okay?” he asked.

“How could I say no to that face?” I said smiling.

“Yah ~ Amber.” Jessica said “he’s mine, hands off okay?”

“Jessica, I can’t help it if I was born this pretty” Hongki said, putting his hands on his cheeks. There was a moment of silence, then we all burst out laughing.



[About an hour later..]

Me and Jessica were dancing away on the dance floor ~ I tried not to take any notice of Jonghun, but every time I turned around I could feel his eyes burning into my back as he looked me up and down.



“Hey Amber, I need to steal Jessica away for a bit okay” Hongki said.

“Yeah sure! I need to go check the kitchen and stuff so go ahead” I said. I walked into the kitchen to find Nichkhun sitting on the floor.

“Want some company?” I asked

“Hey sexy where have you been all night?” he said, winking at me.

“Yahh ~ you’re drunk aren’t you?” I said sitting down beside him. He put his arm around me and put his head on my shoulder.

“Nooo! I haven’t had that much to drink honest!” He sat up as his leg hit the empty bottles of soju beside him.

“Yeah looks it!” I said, laughing at him.

“It’s not my fault, I wanted to loosen up so that I could fight off that guy you don’t like if he tried anything ” he said raising his head off my shoulder to look at me. I turned my head to face him, he closed his eyes and leaned in, closing the space between us. To my surprise, I found myself doing the same.. had I had too much to drink as well? I closed my eyes and leaned in as he did. He pressed his lips against mine.. they were so soft and warm. I ran my fingers through his hair as he pulled me closer towards him, wrapping his other arm around my waist.



Just as our kiss became more passionate I heard someone open to door to the kitchen and walk in.. I pushed myself off Nichkhun as he quickly sat up, I turned round to find Jonghun standing there with a confused and shocked look on his face. He stood there for a moment not knowing what to do, Nichkhun got up and stood in front of me holding out his hands, I grabbed them as he pulled me up. He casually put his arm around me and smirked as we started to walk out of the kitchen, as we passed Jonghun, our eyes met, I couldn’t help but notice he looked hurt, but I had no idea why, he was so mean to me the last time we met, and ever since then all he did was annoy me. I wasn’t going to take any notice of him and his feelings since he clearly had no respect for mine.

About 20 minutes later and 3 bottles of soju later, I had forgotten all about Jonghun. I was dancing with Nichkhun to a slow sexy couple song, when I spotted him from across the room staring at Nichkhun. He saw he looking at him and he flashed me a smirk. I raised my eyebrows and rolled my eyes at him. As I faced Nichkhun I looked deep into his eyes and he kissed me right there and then in front of everyone, I so was surprised I stopped breathing for a second, but I welcomed his kiss, I was too drunk to care about anyone except Nichkhun.



[A few hours later..]

Everyone had passed out asleep in my apartment. I woke in my bedroom, it was still night, I looked to the side of me and found Nichkhun asleep. I smiled and kissed him on the forehead. I crept out of my bedroom and closed the door quietly behind me. There were sleeping bodies all over the floor, ‘this is like a minefield’ I thought to myself as I tiptoed over everyone, I walked through the living room and saw Hongki and Jessica asleep in each others arms on the sofa. I turned into the kitchen and found another bottle of soju, “I’m wide awake again” I said to myself, I grabbed the bottle and downed it, certain that it would make me sleepy.

I stumbled back over the bodies and made my way to my bedroom. As I was about to open the door someone grabbed my arm and led me down the corridor to the balcony. “Yah ~ who is it?” I yelled into the darkness. He dragged me to the balcony and shut the door behind him. I stood there, drunk, not knowing what to do. He took my hand and led me into the moonlight, I was staring at the ground, stumbling, trying not to fall over anything. We stopped and he put his hand under my chin to lift my head. I looked up to find Jonghun standing there in front of me. I opened my mouth to shout at him when he kissed me, he took my breath away. ‘Why is he doing this?!’ I thought to myself.

I hate him and he hates me.

Right?…
